Questions about Floating

What is a float tank?

A floatation tank is a dark, quiet tank with super salty water at skin temperature. You're in the floatation zone (aka sensory deprivation), lounging without any visual or auditory stimuli, and easing into a meditative state that perks up your body and mind.

What if I dye my hair?

DON'T hop in the float tank if you’ve got hair extensions or a fresh keratin treatment—those Epsom salts love to play rough and can shorten the life of your treatments or weaken the glue in your extensions. We want your hair to stay fabulous, not frazzled!

DON'T dive in if you’ve got beeswax, heavy oils, or any grease-based products in your hair. Our float tank isn’t a fan of clumps, and neither is our filtration system!

DON'T take the plunge if you've recently dyed your hair with permanent, semi-permanent, or especially temporary color. Here’s the deal: Your hair needs to pass the 'white towel test'—make sure you’ve washed it at least 3-4 times since coloring, and there should be ZERO color left when you rub a white towel on it. No color streaks = all clear to float! 🎨

Stay vibrant and float-ready!

What is in the water?

Jump into a float tank with 8-10" of water mixed with USP Epsom salt. Each tank contains around eight 50lb bags! Get ready to float effortlessly!

What are the benefits?

There a lot of benefits to Float Therapy

  • Stimulates the release of endorphins.
  • Creates calm and total relaxation.
  • Rejuvenates the mind and body.
  • Alleviates mental and physical stress.
  • Helps with fatigue and jet lag.
  • Improves sleep and insomnia.
  • Improves creativity, healing, and visualisation.
  • Expands awareness and heightens senses.

Could I drown if I fall asleep?

There is no risk of drowning with 8-10 inches of water inside the Float Tank. Some may doze off, but the buoyant water ensures you remain afloat.

What if I get out before my time is up?

You are always in control of your experience. The door can be opened at any moment for you to leave. The 60-minute session often feels brief as time perception changes inside the float tank.

What should I bring?

If you wear glasses or contacts, you will want to bring something to put them in while you are in the Float Tank.  A brush or comb would also be a good idea for afterwards, or a hat as your hair will be wet. Bring your own ear plugs, swim cap and clean shower shoes if you wish. Ear plugs are provided for your first time float.

Other than that, we provide everything you need like towels, earplugs, body wash/shampoo and robes.

We also have a Halo Head floatation for those that feel more comfortable with their head supported.

Do you clean the Float Tank?

We clean the tank between each client, the water is fully filtered through an industrial filter and a UV filter, this is a 20min process between each client, during that time we also clean and sanitize the room. This is why we have so much time in between clients. The tank is deep cleaned every week, scrubbing the sides, and bottom plus ensuring the water stays at the right amount and buoyancy.

Before entering the tank, floaters are required to shower to eliminate outside bacteria, while the 1000 pounds of Epsom salt in the water provide natural bacterial-killing properties.

How will I know the float is done?

If music is playing we will slowly turn it off to alert you, if no music is playing we will turn it on to alert you. We will enter the room and knock on the tank only if you are not out at your designated time. (please note we will only enter the room for this reason)

Do I need a bathing suit?

We recommend to float naked for a few reasons. Bathing suits can have detergents in them that we do not want in the water, plus the best experience is to have no sensory in the tank, but of course if you do not feel comfortable you are welcome to bring a suit, we just ask that it is clean from any detergents and fragrances, have your initial shower in your suit to rinse and wash it to be sure.

What if I am on my period?

It is recommended to treat this as you would a pool visit. Plan ahead or wait until menstruation ends to avoid potential cleaning fees for accidental leaks.

What should I expect?

Everyone's experience will be unique, approach with an open mind and no assumptions about what you will encounter. We are here to offer guidance and ensure you make the most of your visit. It's advisable to try floating multiple times as your initial experience may not fully capture the benefits of floating.

How long is my float?

When reserving your float session, plan for 1.5hrs to shower, float, and shower again. Dedicate 5min to each shower to ensure a total float time of around 75-80min. Remember not to hurry through the initial shower to maximize float time.
